An interesting thing about verbs...

When I first applied to mark the SPAG tests, I really wasn't sure what to expect.  I loved teaching English, but I was never a great fan of the marking (I'm sure everyone else loves the excess marking).  As a consequence of this, I went into it in a half hearted manner.  I realised that for my shows to be relevant, I should be very familiar with the content of the tests and this would be a great way to do it.  As it happened I did enjoy it and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who wants to develop their teaching.  I'm also very proud to say my marker grade has been consistently 'excellent' since I started.

I have to say that my first marking assignment was to mark the old Level 6 paper and the training session was with the Chief Examiner.  This was the best training I have had in my entire career.

The main nugget of information was to talk about the function of verbs within a sentence.  They're the key to the meaning of any sentence and a good understanding of verbs is essential to good English.
